Mary's Art, Sign, & Carving Studio

Since childhood, Mary still loves to draw, doodle, and paint that she studied both art and drafting. She earned both Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design and an Associate’s degree in Drafting and Design Technology. As an architectural drafter, Mary loves to draft floor plans as well as elevations and graphics with the use of lettering while making signs either by hand or small hand-held machinery. Mary remembers that there were several people in her life, including her father, who "sparked" this inspiration for her to do drafting, relief carving, art, and not to forget sign-making. When you visit Mary Compton Aikens' post on FaceBook, , you can see a wide combination of her paintings, plaques and carvings in various categories that include a combination of folk, Americana, and impressionistic styles. Many of her artwork have a combination of paintings, signs and plaques with artistic type of signs and reliefs.

Mary prefers to use this statement: "Use what you have, and work with it" which the majority of her paintings, signs and/or relief carvings consist of wood - bought, found, and given. She is still willing to work and "experiment" with many canvas, panel, an wood-related materials. .

Her subjects are considered as "Family Friendly" due to her relationship with Jesus Christ. "In God We Trust" - "God is OUR source of Life. HE is the way, the Truth and the Life, no man shall come to God, but through Jesus Christ alone."
