Is Gallery offer a scam?

I just wanted to share an email I received to learn if anyone else has experience with Artblend Gallery: “Hi Kathe, I(we) have become familiar with you while looking at dailypaintworks.com. We would sincerely like to exhibit your art in our Art Gallery and Art Book.” Their offer seems pretty straightforward but I haven’t researched the physical gallery. Basically they are offering two options, one costing $700 for printing a photo of my art in 2,500 copies of their book or $1700 for gallery wall space for one painting for a year. Oh and 15% commission on sales. I declined their offer at this time based on price. Info at https://artblend.com/pdf/Artblend-Gallery-and-Book.pdf

If it was me, I wouldn’t do it. The conventional gallery model is they pay you, if they sell your work, not that you pay them up front to try, for good reason. This is because even with a conventional gallery, you take most of the risk, with your work on their walls, usually for a contracted duration, even if it doesn’t sell. To have to pay for that risk up front is to add insult to injury.

There is a long discussion about just this situation with another pay-up-front gallery here:
