What kind of wood do you paint on? I paint on ply panel which I make up myself.

Hi Kerry,
I now paint on 1/4" MDF panels. I previously used tempered masonite but was having problems with them warping even at small sizes. I do the same and prepare them myself. I will buy sheets from the Home Depot and cut them to the sizes I work in.

To ship work, or even just transport it to a show, I wrap it in plastic. I buy heavy clear plastic “drop cloths” from Home Depot and cut it up. I wrap the framed painting and put a label on it with the name of the work. I can then open one end and slip the painting out, and save the plastic envelope to pack it in for the trip back home.
