I’m a Canadian and so far I haven’t sold any art in the USA. If I indicate that my parcel contains a painting worth $X, will there be a customs charge added to the painting? Will the painting be stopped at the border? What does happen? I’m not even sure where I can go to research this question. There is a free trade agreement between Canada and the USA but I don’t know how art is treated at a border crossing. Thanks! I haven’t tried selling by auction and I won’t until I know the answer to these questions.
